The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition is the take-home safety car

  • Aston Martin is celebrating the official F1 safety car with a special Vantage F1 Edition.
  • The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition offers more power and downforce than the standard Vantage.
  • The F1 Edition does not come with the lightbar that can be seen on the official safety car.

Formula 1 fans will see a new machine when the race management calls in a safety car. The Aston Martin Vantage is taking part in the safety car rotation for the 2021 F1 season. To celebrate the honor of becoming an official FIA safety car, Aston Martin staff are offering a safety car vantage for you. Unfortunately, the light bar is not included.

The aptly named Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition gives you more than just a paint package. Under the hood, Aston Martin cranked the 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 an additional 24 hp, bringing the total output to 527 hp for those at home. The 4.0-liter V8 is still connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission that feeds the power to the rear.

Aston Martin says his team has also redesigned the Vantage’s suspension. New dampers help you deal with the road and give you better body control as you tackle the route. New rear springs are stiffer than those on the standard Vantage. The lateral stiffness is also increased so that the F1 Edition can better cope with the rigors of the racetrack. The improved suspension must be able to accommodate larger wheels than the standard Vantage. Aston Martin will mount a set of Pirelli-wrapped 21-inch castors that are designed to give the driver more feedback due to the narrower sidewall.

There are more than just mechanical changes to this special edition Aston. The engineering team also worked on an F1 Edition-specific aerodynamics package. This special aero package includes a full-width front splitter, front dive planes, underbody rotary wings, and a massive rear wing. Overall, Aston Martin says this aero package adds an additional 440 pounds of downforce to the Vantage platform.

As you can imagine with a special edition, you can’t get this Aston Martin in a finish you want. It’s limited to Aston Martin, which drives green, jet black, and moon white. The colors are available in matt or glossy. There is still a choice, which is whether to drop the top or to fix it. Right, the F1 Edition will be available as a coupe or roadster.

According to Aston, the F1 Edition starts at £ 142,000 in the UK, which is around $ 197,000 here in the US. Delivery will start in May of this year. This should give you plenty of time to track down an official bar of light so that your computer looks like the one you see on the track.
