New car, new driver, new talent, new home – new energy. Excitement is building ahead of our 2023 F1 campaign. We explore some of the reasons why.

It’s coming together: a state-of-the-art factory; a formidable arsenal of driving and technical talent; purpose-driven partnerships committed to making a mark on and off the track; a new AMF1 car – a pure expression of speed, power and precision – and fiercely passionate fans who are feeding the energy that’s driving us forward.

As we embark on the third year in our quest to become world title challengers, here are some of the reasons why you should be excited for 2023…

Champions join the team

An exciting blend of youth, experience and an unrelenting will to win, we announced several driver signings last season and head into 2023 with an enviable roster of driving talent.

Two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso embarks on a record-breaking 20th season of racing at the pinnacle of motorsport and his first as an AMF1 driver. One of the pre-eminent drivers of his generation, Fernando has a restless hunger and is determined to help take the team to the front of the grid.

Lance Stroll is set for his seventh season as an F1 driver. Still only 24 years old, with multiple podium finishes and a pole position to his name, Lance begins 2023 ready to develop a new and productive relationship with Fernando, and to help us achieve our ambitious vision.

Formula 2 Champion Felipe Drugovich, who has also joined our newly formed AMF1 Driver Development Program, will partner Formula E Champion Stoffel Vandoorne as our official reserve drivers.

Pedro de la Rosa joins our ranks as Team Ambassador with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share, having enjoyed a successful F1 driving career between 1999 and 2012 and amassing more than 65,000 miles as an F1 test driver.

Driver Ambassador Jessica Hawkins is ready for a third year with the team, dovetailing work in the AMF1 simulator with her inspirational role as an ambassador for equality and inclusion within the motorsport and engineering worlds.

Our new, state-of-the-art factory at Silverstone is making steady progress as we head into 2023. We caught up with Project Manager Guy Austin to see the latest developments and get a first look at our new wind tunnel.

Moving into our new home

As part of our long-term ambition to be a regular championship contender, we’re rapidly putting in place the infrastructure that will provide the foundation for a successful future.

Our state-of-the-art Silverstone factory will be the first brand-new purpose-built facility for an F1 team in almost two decades and we’ll begin our move in the springtime.

The three-unit campus will feature bleeding-edge technology, including an all-new simulator and wind tunnel.

It will be F1’s first ‘smart factory’ and this has been achieved through close collaboration with our partners, including Aramco, Cognizant, Juniper Networks, NetApp and SentinelOne.

Our 2023 challenger

Relentless in the pursuit of performance, we’ve recruited a number of skilled people to strengthen and complement our talented workforce over the past couple of years.

The AMR23 is the first Aston Martin F1 car to be designed under the watch of Technical Director Dan Fallows and Deputy Technical Director Eric Blandin – the team has been working on the car for months and has been aggressive with its design.

While nowhere near as significant as the revolutionary changes to the technical regulations that came into force last season, a handful of changes have been made to the technical rules for ’23.

To tackle the porpoising phenomenon, floor edges will be raised and there will also be tweaks made to the diffuser. In addition, there will be safety enhancements, such as further strengthening of the roll hoop.

Changes to the sporting regulations include the number of Sprint races doubling to six, while qualifying is set to feature a significant change: a trial at up to two events where the Hard compound tire will be mandated for use in Q1, the Medium in Q2 and finally the soft in Q3.

Unmissable Grands Prix

Las Vegas returns to the calendar for the first time since 1982. Taking place on an all-new street track, incorporating the famous Las Vegas Strip, it is set to be an epic event that could well become an instant classic on the F1 calendar.

It will also be hosted on a Saturday (local time, early morning on Sunday in Europe), making it the first race since 1985 to not take place on a Sunday.

We will also return to Qatar in 2023 around the Losail International Circuit, after a year off in 2022, in what will be another huge calendar filled with intense racing until the final race of the year in Abu Dhabi.

Classic venues old and new, such as Miami, Monaco, Italy, Singapore and Japan are all venues we can’t wait to visit again, while we are excited to see the fan support for our drivers at their home races: Spain, Canada, Belgium, Brazil and, of course, our home race at Silverstone.
