Haas F1 Team Reveals 2023 Formula 1 Livery

Haas F1 Team Reveals 2023 Formula 1 Livery

  • Haas enters 2023 with an experienced driver pairing of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg.
  • Haas’ 2023 car, the VF-23, is scheduled to make its on-track debut at a shakedown at Silverstone on February 11.
  • It promises to be an intriguing season for Haas, which finished eighth in last year’s Constructors’ Championship, overhauling AlphaTauri and Williams.

The Haas is the first Formula 1 team to present its livery for the 2023 season.

The new red, white and black scheme reflects Haas’ new multi-year title partnership with MoneyGram, which was announced at last season’s US Grand Prix.

Haas enters 2023 with an experienced driver pairing of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg. Pietro Fittipaldi will stay on as the team’s test and reserve driver.

Haas’ 2023 car, the VF-23, is scheduled to make its on-track debut at a shakedown at Silverstone on February 11.

“We head into a new season buoyed by some strong team performances last year and a return to points paying finishes,” said Haas chairman Gene Haas.

Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg will pilot the Haas VF-23 cars this season.

“The aim for the 2023 season is naturally to do that more consistently and with Kevin and Nico I certainly believe we’ve got an experienced driver pairing more than capable of delivering those points on a Sunday.”

It promises to be an intriguing season for Haas, which finished eighth in last year’s Constructors’ Championship, overhauling AlphaTauri and Williams. Last year, its ambition was to re-establish itself in the midfield, after a couple of financially-driven fallow seasons, and it ticked that box, including an unforgettable shock maiden pole in the rain of São Paulo.

That gives Haas a platform upon which to build, while sponsor MoneyGram’s presence as title partner offers long-term stability—in a way its dubious predecessors never did—and the ability to compete up to the cost cap.

In Magnussen and Hülkenberg, Haas has a veteran driver pairing well-versed in the nuances and requirements of the Formula 1 midfield in which Haas is likely to operate.

“We really have something to build on following last year’s performances,” said Haas team principal Guenther Steiner. “The whole organization has been working hard to reach this point and obviously in Kevin and Nico we have two proven points-scoring talents locked in behind the wheel.”

Reaching the highs of 2018 – when it classified fifth in the championship – would be a tough proposition for Haas given the teams it beat that season, such as McLaren and Aston Martin, are now significantly stronger.

Yet that is the medium-term ambition for Haas, meaning 2023 has to be the next phase of that journey, and it must demonstrate tangible year-on-year progress.

Haas’ livery reveal kicks off Formula 1’s launch period with the remaining nine teams due to take off the covers across the next few weeks.

Official preseason testing will take place from February 23 to 25 in Bahrain, at which the 2023-spec cars will run in anger for everyone to see, ahead of the opening round at the same venue from March 3-5.
